How long will it take to teach and train my staff?

Since each restaurant is a unique facility, that would have to be estimated after an initial evaluation. This evaluation would include an on-site inspection of the facility, as well as important factors including:

  • complexity of the menu
  • number of full and part-time workers
  • hours of operation (not just the hours open to the public, but also the hours prior to opening and after closing)
  • types of washing, cleaning, and sanitation products and equipment that are installed and used
  • size and layout of the food preparation, dining, food storage, cleaning supply storage, refrigerators, freezers, dry storage, and other relevant areas
  • attitude of management and willingness to adjust policies and procedures
  • any other relevant factors discovered during evaluation

While this evaluation will enable us to envision a reasonable time estimate for the project to be satisfactorily completed, be assured that we will remain on site until your staff is properly educated.

Please note that all our Customer Agreements come with the provision that we will not begin working with a new client until the instructor successfully completes his work with his current project. This is your assurance that we are under no pressure to “hurry up and finish the job” in order to start with the next client.

My staff is multi-lingual. Do you have multi-lingual instructors?

With 80% of recent growth in the Chicagoland area due to an increase in the Latino population, it should come to no surprise that Spanish is the language of the kitchen. Given that, USA Food Safety is partnering with Workforce Language Services to meet your bilingual safety training needs.

Using the same training techniques as McDonald’s Hamburger University, USA Food Safety will be offering training sessions for your Spanish-speaking employees.

This option carries an extra charge for the interpreter, but is strongly recommended. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the process involved in this type of training.

USA Food Safety will also work with your bilingual employees. If you feel that you have one or more employees that have a good rapport with their coworkers and has the capacity for the interpretation duties required - accurately conveying information taught in real time, we will be happy to work with them, although we encourage you to consider the WLS option.

Do you bill by the hour?

Absolutely not. With USAFSP, the price is set on the value of the project. While we will have a reasonable idea of how long the entire project will take, it is in both our interests for us to stay until your team is properly educated and trained as per our agreement. With USAFSP, there will be no clock watching on your part, and no concern about us stretching the project out to pad the bill. You know the total cost before the project begins.

I’m located in the Chicagoland area and I’m interested. What’s the next step?

You can contact us by:

Phone: 773-539-FOOD (3663)
Fax: 773-583-1628 or
E-mail: mail@usafoodsafety.com

We will contact you to set a time for an inspection and evaluation of your facility. In addition, in order to save time, we will send you a checklist via fax or e-mail that will give us a basic outline of your operation before we meet.

During our meeting, we will inspect and evaluate your operation. We will also discuss with you your attitude toward not only your business, but also toward your staff.

Remember, the only way for your FSCS program to work is for everyone in the organization (and we do mean EVERYONE) to consider all the individuals involved in the program as equally important, equally responsible, and equally deserving of respect.

Once the evaluation and interview are completed and you are satisfied that you would like USAFSP to build your FSCS program, we will prepare a comprehensive proposal outlining the specific tasks that we will perform to build your specific FSCS program.

In addition, we will give you an estimated start (pending the completion of previous projects) and finish date (based on prompt approval of the agreement), the specific requirements we will need from you, the total price for the project, the prices for any optional services you may choose, and payment options to suit your particular needs.

Once again, after you agree to the proposal, there are no additional charges.

I’m located outside the Chicagoland area. What’s the procedure for having USAFSP serve my business?

We will be happy to meet with you at your facility to provide you with the same service we provide in the Chicagoland area.

You can contact us by:

Phone: 773-539-FOOD (3663)
Fax: 773-583-1628 or
Email: mail@usafoodsafety.com

We will contact you to set a time for an inspection and evaluation of your facility. In addition, in order to save time, we will send you, via fax or e-mail, a checklist that will give us a basic outline of your operation before we meet.

Of course, because of the time and travel involved, the terms for the initial evaluation and interview require payment in advance, even if you choose not to hire USAFSP.

After we set a time for us to meet at your facility, we will prepare a proposal for the cost of the travel to your facility.

This proposal will include:

  • airfare (coach class)
  • rental car
  • per diem expenses
  • lodging at a national chain (number of nights to be determined by air schedule)

Once you agree to the proposal, and payment is made, we will schedule a meeting at our mutual agreement, at which time we will evaluate your facility and interview you regarding your attitude toward your people, and your willingness to lead a team effort in building a successful Food Safety, Cleanliness and Sanitation (FSCS) program.

During our meeting, we will not only inspect and evaluate your operation; we will also discuss with you your attitude toward not only your business, but also toward your staff.

Remember, the only way for your FSCS program to work is for everyone in the organization to consider all the individuals involved in the program as equally important, equally responsible, and equally deserving of respect.

Once the evaluation and interview are completed, and you are satisfied that you would like USAFSP to build your FSCS program, we will prepare a comprehensive proposal outlining the specific tasks that we will perform to build your specific FSCS program.

In addition, we will give you an estimated start (contingent on the completion of preceding projects) and finish date (based on prompt approval of the agreement), the specific requirements we will need from you, the total price for the project, the prices for any optional services you may choose, and payment options to suit your particular needs.

Once again, after you agree to the proposal, there are no additional charges.

Do you provide documentation of the procedures of the program?

Absolutely. Not only will you have all the necessary documentation for all the procedures that must be followed, they will be customized for your specific operation. We will provide you with the documentation in printed hard copy, and two (2) CDs, one for you to keep at the facility and one to store in a safe place. The CDs will be in Word format. If you wish, you can choose to make employee booklets or manuals for your people in whatever manner you think is best for you.

Do you provide follow up training?

Yes. In the Chicagoland area, we will return to your facility approximately thirty (30) days from completion of the project for any follow-up and to answer any questions that you may have. It should be noted that because we do not charge by the hour, nor start any new projects until the current project is completed and you will be provided with thorough documentation of all the necessary procedures, this follow-up should proceed rather smoothly.

Outside of the Chicagoland area, the follow-up visit applies as well, as the cost of the visit will be included in your project cost. There will be no additional charge for this visit.
